Breathe the mountain air as you step into this tastefully decorated log cabin with a Woods and Water theme and you may not want to leave. The Hot Tub on the deck of Howl at the Moon is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy these unobstructed, beautiful views. Envision the quiet tranquility of a clear night in the mountains with a full moon and twinkling stars all around.
Relax and feel the hot tub’s warm churning waters envelop you. Do you hear the owl? Take time to savor the outdoor splendors. The calmness and serenity of the outside will follow you back inside the cabin. Every inch is perfect for cozy romantic moments without sacrificing an ounce of the easy-breezy mountain cabin feel. This cabin seems to reach out and embrace you.
The cathedral ceiling and natural wood walls keep it airy and open, connecting the cabin to its natural setting. Ceiling fans in each room will keep you comfortable. Lounge around in the living room. Select a TV program from the 200 expanded cable channels or watch a movie on the DVD player.
Grab a snack or sip some hot chocolate as you gaze into the flames of the stacked stone gas fireplace. A luxurious fur throw and fur pillow on the couch (in Fall & Winter) are great for naps, movies and football games!!! The lodge-themed area rug and lush forest green carpet throughout the cabin lend warmth on cool, crisp mornings.
While lazing around on the leather (queen sleeper) sofa, feast your eyes on that gorgeous mountain view. Or, you may want to watch the stunning sunset from the rustic rocking chairs on the deck. It is as if an artist gracefully painted a compelling picture of the Smokies’ unsurpassed natural beauty. What a soothing serene background when you just want to kick back and relax. Experience cabin life in the mountains—it is the best!
After you’ve had time to unwind, ease up the stairs to the loft for a challenging game of pool or darts. Board games, puzzles and novels can be found in the nooks and crannies of the cabin for those lazy hours in front of a roaring fire. Did you see the bookcase shaped like a boat tucked into the stairwell or the magazines stacked in a fishing creel? You’ll like the woodsy touches causing this private, cozy and comfortable cabin to provide that peaceful, easy feeling...just the right setting to simplify your life and create some memories.
Next to the living room is the Master Bedroom, complete with log furniture: a rustic log canopy king size bed, cable TV in a pine armoire and a jetted Jacuzzi tub for two. Framed nature pictures highlight the native wildlife as well as wonderful mountain scenes, enhancing the cabin’s outdoorsy ambience. But, the comfy bed is the centerpiece of this romantic master bedroom. Special times of bonding as well as quiet conversations happen in the relaxing atmosphere of this extraordinary place. All of the candles (within reach) are flameless. On the bottom of each is an on/off switch. Please use them for a soft romantic atmosphere.
At the end of a long day enjoying the Great Smoky Mountains, Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge area, it’s easy to fall asleep in this calm, tranquil retreat. The master bath includes another bathtub with a refreshing shower. Freshly laundered sheets and fluffy towels provide additional comfort while resting or bathing. Conveniently located in the closet are the washer and dryer, as well as an iron and ironing board.
Sleep late and have your coffee in bed. Or, rise early for a magnificent sunrise over the mountain range, with your coffee at the bistro table on the deck. Take advantage of everything Mother Nature has to offer--the natural splendor and unsurpassed beauty of the scenic Great Smoky Mountains from the comfortable rocking chairs on the deck. Take your laptop out there: check the weather, scan the news, transact your business and catch up with e-mail buddies with the free wireless internet.
The kitchen has easy access for quick meals; food prep and serving can be a breeze. Make a light lunch or a full meal in the well equipped kitchen. It has all standard appliances including dishwasher and microwave, as well as miscellaneous small appliances such as coffee-maker, blender, toaster, and hand mixer, etc. Also, there’s a crockpot—if you want to throw something together and let it simmer until you return later in the day. We bought a 12" cast iron skillet if you catch some mountain trout in the nearby streams and want to have a fish fry. (Kroger is within a mile of the cabin, between the cabin and Pigeon Forge. It is open 24/7.)
A gas grill on the deck is ready for your cook-outs and barbeques. Hot dogs, juicy hamburgers, chicken, or steaks always taste great, hot off the grill. Eat outside or inside at the rustic pine table for four. It’s just in front of the windows so you can enjoy that fantastic mountain view while eating or playing board games and completing jigsaw puzzles.
Do you prefer minimal time in the kitchen? There are superb restaurants, such as the Apple Barn, Johnny Carino's, Texas Roadhouse or Calhoun's, less than 5 minutes away in downtown Pigeon Forge. If you prefer a show with dinner, then you will want to make plans to go to Dixie Stampede, Wonderworks, or the Black Bear Jamboree. Just a few minutes away in Gatlinburg, you will find the Peddlers Steak House, Lineberger's Seafood Restaurant, or the Park Grill.
Restaurant Dining guidebooks are in the cabin to help you decide where to eat!! The Blue Moose is a favorite of ours, for the poker chips (fried dill pickles) and wing sampler. If you have never eaten at the Apple Barn—it is a special treat, with reasonable prices. There are a lot of really good fudge shops in the area, but we think that the one at Apple Valley in Townsend is the best!!! McDonald’s is very close and often has 2 for the price of 1 Egg McMuffins!!!
It’s very tempting to stay and enjoy the peace and tranquility at Howl at the Moon, but action-packed Pigeon Forge is nearby with Dollywood, Splash Country, or Parrot Mountain and Gardens. Pigeon Forge offers many family fun attractions. We are close to all of the great Smoky Mountain area attractions: the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Dollywood, 14 live entertainment theaters, miles of go-cart tracks, and some of the best restaurants in the world.
If you like to shop for the best prices, there are 8 great factory outlet malls with over 250 stores outlet shops in Pigeon Forge and Sevierville such as Sketchers, Banana Republic, Tommy Hilfiger, Eddie Bauer, Chico's, Liz Claiborne, and many other name brand outlets. Gatlinburg has The Village which has a collection of boutiques, galleries, and eateries in a quaint Old World Setting. Gatlinburg offers the charm of an old world town and is just minutes away with its unique shops and Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies.
Or, you may want to make a day trip to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park where you can hike, picnic, and watch wildlife. Take one of the auto loops such as the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail. On the Cades Cove 11-mile loop, we have seen wild turkeys and whitetail deer, as well as a mother bear and her cubs! A hike to Laurel Falls or the top of Mount LeConte is not to be missed.
The view from Clingman’s Dome is always a crowd pleaser. If you prefer to drive, then take a lazy drive around the loop in Cades Cove or plan a day trip to Tellico Plains and the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest along the Cherohala Skyway. The views from the skyway are second to none. Whether your interests include hiking, fishing, canoeing, tubing, biking, horseback riding, skiing, sightseeing, photography, shopping or just relaxing -- there is something for everyone to enjoy in the Smokies.
