The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad has been a popular attraction with tourists as well as locals for years.
The best times of the year to ride on the railroad is when the fall colors kick in during October and early November and December when children can take advantage of their special Polar Express Ride when young children ride the train at night - often in pajamas and enjoy Christmas lights, hot Coco, listen to Christmas music and even get to met Mr. Christmas himself Santa Claus!
The Polar Express ride is an attempt to recreate the Christmas movie and by all accounts any young child who has taken this special ride on the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad has thoroughly enjoyed it making it a lifelong cherished memory.
